It was Rick Perry’s first day on the campaign trail and he already had the left dialing the civility police. Perry made the following statement about Bernanke to a crowd of supporters in Iowa:
“If this guy prints more money between now and the election, I dunno what y’all would do to him in Iowa but we would treat him pretty ugly down in Texas. Printing more money to play politics at this particular time in American history is almost treasonous in my opinion.”
OK, foul ball. But let’s not get carried away with the backlash a la Think Progress, which hinted that perhaps Perry wants to execute Bernanke because treason is a capital offense. Even Obama had to get involved, telling Perry to ‘be a little more careful’ about what he says.
But hey, this is nothing like that time candidate Obama urged supporters, “Argue with neighbors, get in their face!” Is this the pot calling the kettle black er, something?

Telling someone to argue for their beliefs is a little different then intimating you would hang someone for doing their job.
