Neil Rosekrans on Sunday Square-Off Panel

MCSO, Birther Bill and Medical Marijuana

In case you missed it, here are the video segments of the April 17 Sunday Square Off with Brahm Resnik.  I’m on the panel with Donna Gratehouse from Democratic Diva and Chip Scutari of Scutari & Cieslak PR.

The first segment covered Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s bad week.  The first bit of news is the discovery that MCSO has diverted $99.5 million away from the county jails in order to fund other projects such as immigration raids.  Apparently, this has taken place over the past eight years.

But the bigger news is that Sheriff Babeu of Pinal County has finished his six-month long investigation of the MCSO and has compiled a 1,022-page report.  We don’t yet know what’s in the report but my guess is that it recommends the firing of top deputies Hendershott, Black and Fox.

In the second segment, the panel discusses some of the last-minute bills hitting the governor’s desk.  The most controversial, the birther bill, has been vetoed.  On the show, I said it would be a ‘toss-up’ on whether or not she would sign it.  But in hindsight, it makes perfect sense why she would veto it.  See my analysis here.

In the final segment, the panel debates the new medical marijuana law that just went into effect.  I remain convinced that the law’s vagueness opens Arizona up to the same disastrous results as California’s medical marijuana experiment.
