An Answer to the GOP’s Apathy?

Raising Cain

I don’t think the GOP will go outside the mainstream to pick its nominee.  At least not at the top of the ticket.  But it’s hard not to get motivated by a candidate like Herman Cain, who, by the way, won the presidential straw poll at the Tea Party convention in Phoenix last month.

In the clip below, Cain takes on a liberal in the audience on ObamaCare.  There’s not much to add except possibly two points.

The first point is that the questioner asks why we support health care for the military but not universally for the rest of the population.  That’s because the men and women in the military are employed by the government and it’s a job perk that’s no different than the one I get from my private employer.

And second, Cain makes a point about decreased access to medical care under universal health care schemes.  This point can’t be made enough.  Expanding the number of insurance policies, which ObamaCare does, is completely different than expanding actual health care services.  The Association of American Medical Colleges issued a report last year estimating that doctor shortages will be 50 percent worse in 2015 than forecast.
