Does this mean the current watered down version of the energy bill that surfaced in the Senate at the end of last month is dead?

Sen. Reid has dropped cap and trade for the moment. The current energy bill addresses oil spill liability caps and such. It may be considered between September and November. But I don’t expect to see cap and trade until after November. Even White House energy adviser Carol Browner said that it could ‘potentially’ be brought up during the lame duck session.
